It appears to have been afterward a bishopric; (Hierocl p. 670.) and if it is the place mentioned by Aristides, (I. p. 625, 629.) it was seated on a hill, and about 47 KM from Pergamum, a distance which rather agrees with the Apollonias of Strabo.
