Clearly Tooled - Mr. Tooly1565 viewsIf you were not sure what tooling is. This coin should make it obvious. It appears most of this coin's "design" was scratched into a near slug. Tooling is done to increase the value of the coin. If detected it actually decreases the value. Before or after, this coin wasn't worth much.

This coin has been nicknamed "Mr. Tooly" and many discussion board members find it amusing. It is certainly useful for defining the word toooling.

Hadrian sestertius1148 viewsThis coin was sold on ebay by known fake seller Numis18 for $3000.

A comment from Curtis Clay "no question, the coin has been brutally tooled! "

When the surfaces have been modified to this extent, it is nearly impossible to determine if the coin is genuine. It could be a tooled cast.
