Trebonianus Gallus Tetradrachm #4 - RARE~ Trebonianus Gallus Tetradrachm #4 ~

Roman Empire
AR ( Silver ) Tetradrachm of Emperor Gallus (251 - 253 AD)
(titles in Greek)
obv: Laureate bust of Emperor facing right, seen from behind.
rev: Eagle standing right, head left, holding wreath in beak, S C beneath wings on either side.
Greek Officina numeral in exergue, heavily worn.
weight: 10.60 Grams
---------------------------------------------------
Very interesting and rare type, with the ' S C ' on the reverse having one letter on either side of the eagle, one under each of the eagle's raised wings, as opposed to having the 'S C' in exergue (below the eagle) like most Tetradrachmai of Emperor Trebonianus Gallus have, also it has the Officina numeral (2) in exergue beneath the eagle (where the 'S C' is located on most Trebonianus Gallus Tets), and not between the eagle's legs like most do.
Also a very high relief and well detailed portrait of the Emperor on the obverse.
Dark patina, Scarce type.
