« on: February 17, 2008, 10:46:12 pm »
Hello All!!! i am trying to identifie a little roman coin, and i need your help!!!!!
The coin is in really bad shape, but the bust is not too bad!!
it is for sure, a AE4,  12 mm,  the revers is at 99% : SALUS REI PUBLICAE ( i can see at least the last 3 letters, "CAE".
In exer: TES (A or B)= thessalonica Mint.
In the obvers, the bust is nice, but no letters!!!they are erased!  :(
Maybee it s  Theodosius, but i am not sure,
Need your help to identifie this emperor!!!
THANKS!!!!

Yes it is a salus reipublicae from thessalonica mint (tesA). Maybe it is theodosius.

I can see EODO to the left of the bust, so it must be Theodosius.
If it is TESA or TESB there should be a chi-rho  :<a href='http://www.forumancientcoins.com/catalog/roman-and-greek-coins.asp?vpar=810&pos=0' target='_blank'>Chi-Rho</a>: in the left field.
If it does have that, then it's this coin of Theodosius I (usually 12-13mm)
RIX IX Thessalonica 65b, rated scarce
