In Phoenician mythology, she was a daughter of Sky and Earth and sister of the god El. Astarte was connected with fertility, sexuality, and war. Her symbols were the lion, the horse, the sphinx, the dove, and a star within a circle indicating the planet Venus. Her name is the second name in a Wicca energy chant: "Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Inanna." |

Aelia came from Hadrian's nomen gentile, Aelius, while Capitolina meant that the new city was dedicated to Jupiter Capitolinus, to whom a temple was built on the Temple Mount.
