Another variant of the snake around staff type:
Elagabal, AD 218-222
AE 16, 1.8g, 180°
obv. AVT M AVRHL - ANTWNINOC
       Head, laureate, r.
rev. MARKIANOPOLITWN
Staff (of Asklepios) entwined by a snake, head r.
rev. a) cf. AMNG I/1, 922 (1 Ex., Sofia)
       b) Varbanov (engl.) 1420 var. (cites AMNG 922, has AVT KM AVRHL)
       c) Hristova/Jekov No. 6.26.20.3 var. (cites AMNG 922, has AVT KM AVR)
Very rare, F+/about VF
ex coll. Hoeft

I can read clearly AVT M AVRHL. AMNG 922 has listed only AV...AVRHL, the rest is illegible. So it could be possibly my legend. But there is no small coin known with AVT M AVRHL. So I think it is a new obv. legend!

           rev. AMNG I/1, 1162 (legend)
                  AMNG I/1, 1161 (depiction)

Wrong described or not in Hristova/Jekov:

Moesia inferior, Marcianopolis, Elagabal, AD 218-222
AE 16, 2.04g, 15°
obv. AVT KM AVR - ANTWNEINOC
Head, laureate, r.; ties hanging down to shoulders
rev. MARKIANO - POLITWN
Club of Herakles vertical. grip above
ref. a) not in AMNG
       b) Hristova/Jekov No.6.26.47.9 corr. (obv. same die)
cites AMNG 929/30, but both types have a burning torch. Hristova/Jekov describes No.6.26.47.9 as not burning torch
           in contrast to quoting AMNG!
       c) Varbanov (engl.) 1391 (describes the object correctly as club of Herakles)
ex coll. Hoeft

A new die combination (known by Pick, but not listed in Hristova/Jekov):

Elagabal, AD 218-222
AE 27, 9.94g, 180°
struck under Antonius Seleucus
obv. AVT KM AVRH - ANTWNEINOC AVG (AVG ligate)
Bust, laureate, with scale armor, r.
rev. VP IOVL ANT CELEVKOV MARKIANOPOLITWN (both OV and AR ligate)
Nemesis stg. l., holding in extended r. hand scales, in l. arm rod; on the left side the wheel.
ref. a) AMNG I/1, 841 (1 ex., Paris)
b) not in Hristova/Jekov
c) not in Varbanov (engl.)
about VF/F+
ex coll. Hoeft

Curiously this coin is not listed in H/J. The obv. is the same like No.6.26.1.5. AMNG I/1, 842, the same rev. type with bust draped and cuirassed, is listed as No.6.26.35.5.
In error H/J writes below as reference 'P.R., 839-842'. But P.R. (= AMNG) 839 too - like AMNG 841 - is not listed.

New die combination

(1) The obv. looks like AMNG I/1, 746. Then the legend is AV K OPPEL CEVH MAKREINOC and in ex. KM OPPEL AN / TWNINOC DI / ADOVMEN, confronting heads of Diadumenian r. and Macrinus l.
The rev. seems to be AMNG I/1, 749: rev. legend VP PONTIANOV MARKIANOPOLITWN. Because of the available space I think that the rev. legend needs no break. The description of Asklepios is 'bearded'. If Asklepios here is not bearded - I can't decide it - then the depiction is that of AMNG 746. But the legend is AMNG 749 matching too the rectangular E in the l. field.

(2) Not in Varbanov (engl.). Varbanov 1256 cites AMNG 746 but the legends are described wrongly.

(3) Not in Hristova /Jekov: H/J 6.24.20.5 = AMNG 746 and H/J 6.24.20.3 = AMNG 749. This die combination not listed.

The pic is from the seller.

A coin of a member of the German forum. A new type?

Moesia inferior, Markianopolis, Macrinus&Diadumenian, AD 217/18
AE 27, 11.32g, 27.19mm
struck under governor Pontianus
obv. AVT K OPEL CEVH MAKREINOC KM OPEL ANTWNEINOC
Laureate head of Macrinus, r., confronting bare-head of Diadumenian l.
rev. VP PONTIANOV MAR - K - IANOPOLEITWN (AR and WN ligate
Zeus, in himation, stg. l., holding patera in outstretched r. hand and resting on
sceptre wit raised l. hand; At his feet l. an eagle stg. l. with opened wingss, head
turned r. and looking up to him
ref. a) AMNG I/1, 715 var. (different rev. legend)
      b) Varbanov (engl.) 1240 var. Varbanov cites AMNG 715, but has only CEV and writes
           AV KM in error.
      c) not in Hristova/Jekov

Additionally I can see an E in the r. field. It is the same E like on AMNG I/1, 717, the type with Zeus with altar.
Can anyone confirm that? If that would be correct we would have a new type at all.

Severus Alexander, AD 222-235

Bust, with long sideburns, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r.

in l. and r. field LIT - WN (WN ligate)
Hygieia, in long garment, holding snake in r. arm and feeding her from patera in l. hand
ref. a) AMNG I/1, 990 var. (no legend break and missing I not mentioned)
       b) Hristova/Jekov No.6.32.21.1 corr. (doesn't mention the missing I and the missing O, even though the pic is correct)

A new variant

Elagabal & Julia Maesa, AD 218-222
AE 26, 11.53g, 26.38mm, 15°
struck under governor Antonius Seleucus
obv. [AVT] KM AVRH ANTWNEINOC.IOVLIA MAICA [AVG]
Head of Elagabal, laureate, r., and bust of Julia Maesa, draped and with stephane, l.
rev. VP.IOVL.ANT.CEL - EVKOV MARKIANOPO / LITWN

in lower l. field E (for pentassarion)
ref. a) AMNG I/1, 957 var. (2 ex., Gotha, Sofia)
          WN ligate
       b) Varbanov (engl.) 1636(?), no pic!
       c) not in Hristova/Jekov:
no. 6.28.21.3 has same rev. legend, but E in r. field and the position of the letters
on the obv. argues against the long legend with AVGOVC.
rare, F+/about VF, dark green patina

A new obv. legend variation

Diadumenian, AD 217-218
AE 17, 3.56g, 180°
obv. M OPPELI - ANTWNINOC K
Bust, draped and cuirasswd, seen from behind, bare-headed, r.
rev. MARKIAN - OPOLEITWN
Harpokrates, nude, stg. l., holding finger of r. hand to lips, cornucopiae in l. arm
not in AMNG; Varbanov (engl.) 1351 var.; Hristova/Jekov 6.25.30.1 var.
very rare, VF, dark-green patina
ex coll. Hoeft

Hristova/Jekov 6.25.30.1 has the obv. legend without the K at the end. And so does Varbanov.

A new die combination and a rev. legend variant

A legend variation or a correction

Macrinus & Diadumenian, AD 217-218
AE 27, 10.37g, 15°
struck under governor Furius Pontianus
obv. AVT KM OPELLI CEV [MAKREINOC] KM OPELLI ANTWNEINOC
Confronted busts of Macrinus, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r., and
Diadumenian, draped and cuirassed(?), bare-headed, l.
rev. VP PONTIANO - V- M- ARKIANOPOLI / TWN (AR ligate)
Emperor, with mantle over back, riding r., holding sceptre in l. hand and raising r.
hand in greating attitude; horse with raised r. forefoot over bearded captive,
       kneeling l., head turned back
E in upper l. field (for pentassarion)
very rare, about VF, green patina
ref. a) not in AMNG
      b) not in Varbanov (engl.)
      c) not in Hristova/Jekov:
ex coll. Hoeft

No. 6.24.34.1 has a similar specimen but with obv. legend KM OPEL ANTWNEINOC. The depicted specimen is so worn, that I think the legend is added without evidence. So it is possible that the legend is identical with the legend on my coin. Then it should be corrected.
