Dear cf,

I wanted to share this rare coin with you, as you might know was Trajan a big expansionist is his days as Emperor, Hadrian did see that this would not work any more, so he consolidated the borders and he gave up some territories.

This reverse is seen on many of Trajan Rome minted coinage and maybe also on provincial minted coinage


 
RPC 5294.2 (this coin). Dattari-Savio Pl. 86, 1775 (this coin); Emmett 1007.5

Laureate head of Hadrian, r., drapery on l. shoulder

Trophy with standing captive; to r., Nike advancing l. holding wreath and palm-branch; between, kneeling captive
