Hi!
Can someone help me with correct identify in RIC, below Commodus' denar:

I can read:

Rev: P M TRP X IMP [...] COS IIII P P

Best regards

This looks like a new combination between the Jupiter reverse (RIC 101, 52nd emission in MIR) and the obverse of the 53rd and ff. emissions (RIC 107b, 110d, 113).

The Reka Devnia hoard, p. 86, contained a denarius exactly like Orpio's.  BMC 151 note and RSC 472b record the variant citing the Reka Devnia report.

If I understand well this coin isn't listed in RIC? Could you give more information about this coin (mint, rarity)?

Only one specimen in Reka Devnia, and not published before, indicates a rare coin.

RIC III was originally published in 1930, four years before the appearance of the Reka Devnia report in 1934, so could of course not know of the new variant contained in the hoard.

Presumably minted in Rome.  As there is only a single specimen of this variant in the Hoard, it is quite rare.  BMC and RSC do not cite other specimens.

Value is subjective.  It is worth what:
1. Someone else is willing to pay
2. What an insurance company is willing to insure it for.

Not to give you an unsatisfactory answer but I have seen R5 coins go for several thousand and then I have seen an R5 go for $50.

Condition - I would say it is in VG condition.  The reverse is heavily worn.

Thanks all!

I have another question: Is it possible, that this coin is ancient forgery like for example RIC III 100?

Best regards

Thanks!

I have been looking for information about  the Reka Devnia report, but I found only small information. Help me, where can I found more information about it?

Best regards
