I keep a list of people who ask my permission to use coin images. Not for "Big Sister/Big Brother" reasons, but sometimes it's nice to be able to contact someone and ask how successful their thesis went, or contact them for some other reason. In any case, to be on the safe
side before I wrote back to him, I checked my list and this
man has never contacted me in the past.
I have seven people in the list (all marked in
red and with a "NO"note) who wanted to copy entire sections of
wildwinds - one wanted to copy every single
provincial coin on
wildwinds for
his own website (and what would then be the point of upkeeping
wildwinds?), another wanted to use every image and txt file of every
Jewish coin for a book he was
writing.... you'd be surprised, but at least they asked...
I
still cannot get over the utter gall of this
man. My gawd, it's like stealing a
car then asking the owner to pay for the registration and insurance so that the thief can drive it
.
