Commodus
« on: March 08, 2024, 12:01:13 pm »

AE 25mm.   7.40g.

Obv: Head of Commodus to right, wearing lion-skin headdress. (probably L • AEL • AVREL • COMMAVG • P • FEL around)
Rev: HER – CVL / ROM – ANO / AV – GV / S – C. around Club, in four lines across fields, all within wreath.

As far as I can detect, only denarius and sestertius of this type seem to exist.
In this case, when the weight of the sample in the picture is between semis and dupondius (7.40g.), what would it be more accurate to categorize it as and are there any similar examples?

Thank you in advance.
