Hi Virgil,
This is not a dumb question at all, i will try and explain the similarities.
Both specimens share the same iconography on the
obverse e.g;
Obverse: Figure of Marine Deity right (Ba´al Arwad), lower
part of body fish-like,
fish (
Dolphin) held in both
hands.
The similarities occur when comparing the
reverse of my coin in conjunction with that of the
BNF sample. Both share the same
countermark, depiction of a
turtle or tortoise, Phoenician letter Tet, Galley and winged seahorse (
Hippocamp). So there appears to be numerous similarities between both
types and therefore both should be considered has having a degree of uniformity in respects to the
choice of iconography.
