Small Sestertius or As ?
« on: Today at 11:56:42 am »
I’ve read a lot lately about the difficulty distinguishing between smaller sestertius and As, weighing the coins and allowing for wear or damage doesn’t seem to help much. I’ve seen some coins as small as 25mm and as light as 10 grams being identified as sestertius and find this even more confusing.
I am looking for opinions on the following as to denomination identification please.
From top left to bottom
29mm 11 grams
29mm 12 grams
29mm 14 grams
30mm 16 grams
30 mm 18 grams
