Gallienvs VICTORIA AVGG

Dear all,

I recently bought this coin that I can't find anywhere... As from the heading, it is a Gallienus ant. Cruiss. Radiate bust Rgt, IMP C P LIC GALLIENVS AVG
On rev. Victoria walking left, holding wreath and palm. VICTORIA AVGG

I presume joint reign for the double G in AVGG but I can't find anything similar. I was wondering if any of you could help me. BTW, any of you has a good site about Gallienus' coins to suggest me?

Thanks in advance, best, Federico

Here's another, perhaps.  My cataloguing of six years ago is negligible.  Pat L.

Looks like RIC 172, Common, issued 253-4 according to RIC, but it's an ancient text and I don't know how accurate that's likely to be. As you suspected, the double G, early portrait and long obverse inscription (IMP C P LIC GALLIENVS AVG) give this away as joint reign. Issued at Rome.

Yes, RIC is full of errors.
This coin is of Antioch, as stated above; but RIC lists the type only under Rome, where in fact this type of Victory advancing left rather than standing left is so far known only on rare sestertii, Goebl 32.
On stylistic grounds, all such antoniniani so far known, including Federico's and Pat's, belong to Antioch.
