My library is insufficient to translate the obverse legend "III VIR R P C".  I see that it appears on quite a few coins of the period, and would greatly appreciate a translation.
thanks, bp

This is from David Sears "Roman Coins and Their Values, Vol 2"

"III VIR R P C = Triumvir Reipublicate Constituendae, 'One of three Men for the Regulation of the Republic'. The title adopted in November of 43 BC by the three Caesarian leaders (Mark Antony, Octavian, and Lepidus) when they formed the Second Triumvirate to oppose the tyrannicides Brutus and Cassius."

Actually it was the first and only official triumvirate as a roman legal institution. The "first" one Caesar,Pompei, Crassus was more like an alliance between the three men for mutual purposes but wasn't a system instituted by the roman republic like in the case of the "second" triumvirate.
