Augustus & Rhoemetalces is it fake

23 mm 9.75 g Never had one before, do they have cast flans pre striking as its edges are different from any other coin I have seen, has a blunt line all the way round, cheers Chris

The edge is normal for the issue, as is the medal and the pitting.  Looks real to me.

Hi, many thanks, I have never had a coin like it, I collect Roman Imperial 99% of the time, do you know if its flan was cast then hammered, hence the angled edge, cheers CB

I expect the coin flan was cast in a two-sided mould with each side bevelled.
