On the Septimius Severus you show with the reverse of the eagle, two standards, and altar, there is a similar one for Caracalla. Thanks to some detective work from Mark Fox, the description:

AE of Prusias. 27mm, 9.67 g. Obv: Bust right. Rev: Eagle standing head left, wreath in beak, on garlanded cippus flanked by two standards.
RPC temporary 6812 [Attribution based on email received from Mr. Heuchert of RPC].

I'm guessing that eventually we might see a similar one for Geta.

Best,
Larry

Dear Larry!

Thank you very much for your contribution. But this thread is intended for new types from Nicopolis ad Istrum. Because your coin comes from Prusia in Bithynia it is not the right place for this coin.

Kind regards

A new die combination for Commodus

Unfortunately, the numbering has to be changed for the last two corrections, which we actually wanted to avoid by introducing the yellow pages.
(1) The field below  the corresponding part of p. 34 has to be changed to
"No. 8.10.10.1-2. (P.B., ---; H.M., --- )  2,7 / 2,9 / 3,3g          R4."
(2) The corresponding part of p. 42e has to be changed to:
"No. 8.10.10.3-4."

From Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2023)

greendatchet, Ebay, May 2023

On these coins you can clearly see the dot after VΠ. Therefore, the following letter cannot be the A to complete VΠ to VΠA, which also occurs frequently. It is the abbreviation for the praenomen of Aurelius Gallus. It can be A or Λ which is often difficult to distinguish on coins.

Pick already recognised this problem. He was still wavering between A for Aulus and Λ for Lucius. According to Dilyana Botiva, his name is L. Aurelius Gallus, which speaks in favour of the prefix Lucius. Wherever there is a full stop between VΠ and the next letter before AVP, this letter should be changed to Λ. L. Aurelius Gallus was legatus Augusti pro praetore under Septimius Severus, Iulia Domna, Caracalla and Geta. The name Aurelius Gallus should be replaced everywhere by L. Aurelius Gallus.
