What is this?  It is hollow.  A friend found it in Europe.

Hi DJ.  My first thought would be a sliding weight from a Roman steelyard, often 20-50 grams.  If you Google it you may see similar objects.  (Or possibly a plumb bob if it is larger).

Regards, Jimi

The decoration doesn't look Roman to me.  Much more modern I think.

17th-19th century???

The object was found in an Illyrian-Roman context.

What is the size of the items . I have found similar items, size was 10-15 mm. Exatly same shape and decoration. Suppose to be a earring or some woman decoration. They said in the hollow place they put perfum. Ottoman era stuff

In my opinion, it could be a "hanging line" that was used to adjust the vertical/perpendicular direction during construction.

I actually wrote a reply shortly after djmacdo posted and suggested that it could be perhaps a roman plumb weight/bob, although ultimately i chickened out and removed my post because i could not find a similar object.
