Herculi lion's skin and?
« on: October 03, 2020, 03:44:12 am »
Hello,

Im working on Aureolus coins. I see the VIRTVS EQVITVM coins and i think this one is the most blatant:
https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=4108425

Another:
https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3258843

My idea is that there is a lion's skin on the left arm, but can we consider that we see an apple tree behind? This picture of herculi with club is ued too for the Hespherid garden. The littles balls and the line starting from the ground is different from this one: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3258844

You can visit my offline page here: https://www.all-your-coins.com/en/archives-anciennes/romaines-imperiales/
Its an buliding page, therefore it can be not ranked correctly, the filters can bug too.. im working to complete it for the next month.

Could also plainly  be the tail of the lion's skin.

For the line yes its the tail on many coins, but on the first link, the coin has other lines and little balls, it look like a tree for me.

Hi!

Rocks are often composed by small balls representing big stones.

The "line" goes down to the bottom, but it starts in the lion skin. This makes not sense for a tree:

Another example:

Trees are clearly separated:

(tree + tail)
