Tiberius / Nero Semis, ancient counterfeit
« on: February 20, 2007, 11:57:10 am »
I found this one:

Tiberius / Nero, ancient counterfeit (?), "Lugdunum" types, 65 AD. and later,
Copper Semis (22-23 mm / 4.45 g),
Obv.: ACATIALDI \ I - AVCI AVGVST VII , laureate head of Tiberius (?) right.
Rev.: PONTIF MAX - TR P IMP P P / S C , Roma seated left on cuirass amid arms, holding wreath and parazonium, shields behind.
Obv.: RIC I, 58, 239, - 243, 246 (Augustus, Tiberius) ; rev.: RIC I, 176, 424-5, -179, 479-81 (Nero).

The coin looks ancient and struck. Has somebody seen a similar one ?

Regards,
A.
