Roman Iron Knife?
« on: June 17, 2021, 03:04:47 pm »
Hello everyone,

I upload some photos of a Metal Antiquity of a supposed roman Iron broken Knife, supoosed a legionary one. But Still wth doubts

On the one end is seem to be a tipical knife iron ring, but broken, but we sitll can see the round edge.

On the knife blade we can see a hole on with it is suppose that a wood handle in the past.

I really know there are people with lots of wisdom in this forum, I ask for help

Thanks in advance

I don't believe that there is any such thing as a legionary's knife. Sword, dagger and hafted weapons are known to be standard but no standard knife has ever been identified.  Sadly "legionary" is tacked on to the description of many items for sale.

As for the age of the knife I don't recognize it, though the handle seems distinctive.
