This is very far outside my area, but I thought I'd ask... anyone any clue what this is? My guess was Indian, but it is a guess. I'd be very grateful for any help,

I wish I could offer more help than simply telling you that your right-hand image needs to be rotated 180 degrees for the Arabic inscriptions to have the correct orientation, but I can't  :(
