Sextus Pompeius Denarius OTD

This Sextus Pompeius is of exceptional state of preservation. Jacquier called it FDC which it clearly is. It has an old cabinet tone and is an almost perfectly centered strike.

The coin is Ex M&M 1967 and comes from a very old collection, built before WW1.

I've longed for one of these for decades, historically important, excellent portrait and dynamic reverse. Unfortunately for me, the availability of a good example and my finances at the time have so far never matched up!

This denarius is what every collector could wish for, with the bonus of a long pedigree and what appears to be perfect "cabinet toning".
