Possibly Roman?

Looked through guides for roman coins, can't find any similarities for the back side of the coin, with the lettering and the box shape, please help identify.

Hi JH,

It looks like an Altar at Lugdunum issue. That is what is depicted on the reverse. The reverse legend reads: "ROMETAVG" (or similar).

The obverse portrait on these issues is usually Augustus, but some are Tiberius. Your example is so worn that I can't tell which emperor it us.

Hi JH,

As far as I can tell, the obverse legend on your example doesn't match the legend on the examples in your 2 links.

Your example is so worn that it is difficult to read the obverse legend.

Hi JH,

Your assumption is wrong.

In the obverse legend of your example, I think I see "...SAR AVGVS..."

Your example is probably RIC 233. It is not RIC 230 (which is what you think it is).
