Hasmonean coin id #2 - cursive?
« on: December 08, 2006, 10:29:32 pm »
This one has me stumped -- Is the writing cursive?  I am thinking Hendin #475 -- but it may be too hard to read!

I can read HY in the first line but it is clearly Hyrcanus I coin since the Pamogrannet and the cornocopia is his style of coinage.
and the reverse style  tell us that this is Hendin 460.
regards
Salem

Thanks again, Salem --

I had suspected #460.... but some of the letters were not too clear!   My reason for thinking #460 was that I thought I could see an "A" on the obverse; also the style.  Sadly, at this time I do not have the Meshorer book... maybe someday!
