« on: July 02, 2013, 01:18:40 pm »
Hi all,

this coin arrives to me but unfortunately first I didn´t know what it is and second it is not in a very good condition. :-[
I only can identify on the reverse an horse jumping left, above an wheel, on the averse I can identifying...nothing.
Weight 2,37 g. (36.57 grain), diameter 15-19 mm (0,59-0,74 inches).

If you liked to help me, all hints are welcome.

Best regards

Aulus

Haec et meo munimini,AMICE LECTOR, et Tuae notitiae. Tu iudica, sed sincere. Iudica, sed rationum mearum memor. Memor et humanae conditionis!

Salvete Aulus !
Don´t know what it is??? Well ... a celtic coin  ;D
 ;)

This is also an Allobroges silver coin (south-east France, Région du Dauphiné, Rhône to italian border).
Timeline for this example is ca. 100-75 BC.

Obv. laureate head of Apollon left
Rev. horse left, wheel of four spokes below

References:
- Atlas de Monnaies Gauloises, Henri de la Tour, plate VII LT 2895 var. (wheel)
- Collection KHM Vienna, Günther Dembski 150

Here is an example with VOL insciption, acsearch has no example listed with wheel:
