Dichalkon, Civic Coinage of Chios, Ionia.

XI-W-N, Sphinx left, forepaw raised.
(from lower left) DIXA-LKON, amphora, dotted border.
BMC Ionia 114; Mionnet 3, 114.
(BMC example = 14mm)

(going to wildwinds)

Thank you Dane.

BMC attributes this to "Imperial Times, without Archon's name", are there any refferences with the date or the Emperor associated with this coin?

BMC doesn't appear to give a date, but SNG Cop has a similar coin, with the amphora and Dichalkous value on the reverse but with sphinx right. They have this (SNG Cop 1649) as "Reign of Augustus - 150 AD".
(which covers an awful lot of emperors !)

That's better than "Imperial times".  Thanks

I'm posting again with the new picture. This is the first coin that I've owned with the denomination actually spelled out on the reverse, DIXA-LKON(Dichalkon).
