A Flavian Protocontorniate?

I bought this As of Titus very cheap. I suspect that the seller assumed it was a poor misshapen example. I suspect it's a 'protocontorniate'.

I think it is most certainly a protocontorniate, perhaps a little cruder than most, but I'm not really equipped to weigh in on when or why this was done in antiquity.

It certainly looks like one.  There appears to have have been hammered with blows evenly distributed around the edge.

Some, like this small one of mine, have edges that have been finely made and smoothed:
