Scabbard tips for sword or knife or even belt end hangers.  Do you have dimensions?

They don't match standard Roman military designs so I suspect the right side is a later kife scabbard tip or belt strap and the right the tip of something post-Roman.

I went through Miks and Fischer, the two most comprehensive listings of Roman swords and their parts, and it is definitely not Roman.

The holes look quite similar to the designs found on some Byzantine belt buckles of circa 7th - 8th c AD.

But only size would tell you if it was for knife or sword.
