Pseudo-autonomus
« on: February 23, 2022, 04:36:52 am »
Hi
, this Ae 16 for 3.1 grams should be a Pseudo-autonomous.
I searched in vain, but the only certainties are the letters ΔH, which would lead to ΔH-MOC, but I don't think it's the right legend.
On the other hand, the letters that are considered safe are IOY, they would lead to Gordo-Julia, but even these are not convincing.
In summary, I have not found anything that meets these conditions, perhaps the image of the Senate on the obverse and Heracles on the reverse?
I thank those who will help me to classify it.

I would say the coin is in fact from Iulia Gordus.

On the obverse it looks like ΓΟΡΔΗΝΩΝ and on the reverse it is probably ΕΠΙ ΠΟΠΛΙΟΥ.

The coin is similar to this one: https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/3/2551
but with different obverse legend.

ΓΟΡΔΗΝΩΝ occurs on other coins of Iulia Gordus: https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/4/3348

But I didn't find an exact match :-\.
