Hello everyone!

I have just added this nice antoninianus of Carinus, Fides reverse. Apart from the deposits on the reverse, I quite like it  ;D

One of the early issues with the longer obverse inscription. Nice coin.

Thanks Steve +++

I have just added 3 more coins - 2 of Diocletian, 1 of Carausius. I especially like the first Diocletian; it has a somewhat interesting (and different compared to my others) reverse (Hercules) and some nice silvering.

Hercules Diocletian: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-158392
Other Diocletian: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-158393
Carausius: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-158394

Enjoy!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while - I have been very busy recently (applying for university etc.)

I have just uploaded 5 new coins - 4 of Postumus (including a decent, somewhat scarce silver one) and a rare (but terrible condition) one of Probus (with CONS IIII in the obverse legend).

Postumus Antoninianus - SERAPI COMITI AVG:   https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159136
                                   - ORIENS AVG:   https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159137
                                   - IOVI VICTORI:   https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159138
                                   - PAX AVG:   https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159139

Probus Antoninianus: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159140

Enjoy!

Thanks,

Hello everyone!

I have added an unlisted (and somewhat unusual) antoninianus of Claudius II Gothicus, with reverse ROMAE AETERNAE, but with SPQR in exergue. I have tried to research this, and only found one other example (this on Wildwinds). Incidentally, if anyone does know of any other examples, please do let me know  ;D +++

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while (been busy with work and revision). I've managed to buy my first legionary antoninianus of Carausius (Capricorn reverse). Hope you enjoy it!

I kindly suggest that you edit your last post...  the link should be https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-160669 for the Carausius LEG II with Capricorn reverse

The link to https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=48400&pos=0  presently brings one to Carausius Antoninianus - LITIT AV.  Perhaps this is one of those links that changes coins with each new addition?

Cheers~

Re: Harry G's Gallery of Antoniniani - Bought an Extremely rare Vabalathus!

Hi all!

Sorry I've been inactive for a while; I've been very busy with university and everything.

I bought the best coin I think I will ever find for the price: an extremely rare sole reign antoninianus of Vabalathus, in nice condition!

It was actually an eBay buy (from a seller who normally sells very common Constantines and Aurelian ants). I asked quite a few questions, and the answers they gave were satisfactory, so I thought I'd bid.

Anyway, I was shocked to see I won the auction for only £31! I think, as it was Christmas, there were less coins being listed, and therefore less people checking, hence the good price.

I don't think I'll ever find a better coin on eBay.

Thanks to all who post :)

(The first picture is the seller's listing, the second is my attempt)

Hi Harry,

You had the wrong link to your Vabalathus coin, I have changed it to the correct one for you.

The link below was set up to show anyone how to attach a stable link to their coin.

Hi all! I bought this unusual antoninianus of Carausius on eBay a few days ago.

The reverse unusually depicts the wolf and twins, and the legend is a blundered PM COS IIII type (thanks to Dane from Wildwinds for the help!)

It's exergue seems to show σ+∩, which Dane pointed out is probably a blundered CLA mintmark. It's unusual, nevertheless. :)

Hope you enjoy!
