19MM PRovincial FEMALE....ID HELP PLEASE
« on: November 17, 2004, 11:46:28 am »
I am not sure if this is as clean as I should get this coin or not(I am still debating that point) but can anyone assist in an ID for me, please?

The bust almost appears to be female, and I can make out  (I or L) then(I or L) then A to the left of the bust.

The reverse shows a long airplane looking Thing that runs the entire length of the coin, although it also looks like there are lines running down from the two "arms" to the bottom as well.  To the Left I can read NE (W)Omega  K

Hi, the reverse shows a female cult-figure with attendant animals - probably Artemis Ephesia. It doesn't necessarily have to come from Ephesus, though, because lots of cities in Asia Minor used this reverse. A bit of sleuthing in the usual websites (e.g. Wildwinds) may produce a better-preserved example of your coin.
