Should I restore it?
« on: December 04, 2013, 11:18:10 am »
Hi.. I have just purchased this Pontius Pilate bronze prutah. I really liked the condition except for one flaw I noticed on the handle of the simpulum. It appeared to me that it was probably corroded away or pitted. I am wondering if I should plug it or fix it? If so, any suggestions whom I can ask and how should I do it? Any advice or opinions deeply appreciated.

It took 2000 years to look like that.

If you try you'll destroy its value to a collector.

Just keep it dry.  They are very susceptible to bronze disease.
