Hello all,
So I purchased my first coin yesterday and wanted to know how I was coming along with identifying it. The only info in the
flip was VF S-4011 which means nothing to me (guessing VF is
very fine). When the dealer went to tell me about the coin I asked him not to tell me anything so I could use it as a tool to start learning how to identify.
So here we go. Please let me know if I am on the right path.
Its bronze!
Die Axis is 180
Its just over 15mm so that makes it
AE4weight is 2grams
Using the links like
wildwinds and others on this site, I am pretty sure the observes is DNCONSTHN TIVSPFAV with
bust right of
Constantius II.
Reverse is SP(i think)ESREI PVBLICE. And this is where I am a
bit stumped. In the bottom middle (ex? or
mint mark?) to me it seems like it says CCON, but I can't find anything with that marking. The two closest are
SCON or
PCON. Maybe the S was cut off?
That is what I have so far.
Thanks,
Will
