Eucratides I coin, but unusual
« on: October 03, 2017, 04:40:50 am »
This coin was bought in a Bazaar in Kandahar, it looks like an Eucratides I coin, but the king is looking left, not right and the shine is strange. Might be fake, any expert opinion? Thanks a lot!

Oliver,

Providing the coin's dimensions would be helpful (size and weight).  I believe it is Eukratides.  Here is a link to where you can see several tets with him facing left - http://coinproject.com/coin_detail.php?coin=277601 - not sure if fake or not but it doesn't look quite right to me - just a feeling.

It looks fake to me.  In your photo the coin appears to be copper or bronze.  Is it?

Thanks for the answers! Unfortunately can't measure or weight right now, but the last post by Pekka seems pretty accurate to me, a fake coin. Again, thanks!
