Another addition to my “growing more rapidly than I want” collection of medals/coins commemorating Horatio Nelson and/or the centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar.

This medal commemorates the centenary of Trafalgar, presented by the St. George’s Society and Sons of England of Ottawa, Canada. It has a suspension hole drilled in it just after the 12h (from the obverse). This is the fifth entry into my Nelson gallery and the third that has been altered for wearing. Clearly on the reverse at the 6h is a mark but even under 25x magnification it doesn’t resemble anything that I can recognize. Yet, I’m convinced that it was intentional and not just a defect or artifact.

"Archaeologists already knew that Plato was buried somewhere in the Platonic School in Athens, however, this latest revelation has pinpointed his burial to a private garden near the so-called Museion or sacellum sacred to the Muses.

Furthermore, the text has revealed that Plato was sold as a slave following the conquest of the island of Aegina by the Spartans sometime around 404 BC to 399 BC."

Agrippa Postumus - Corinth. Except it is 'Cornith' or at least looks that way, unless it is an optical illussion. A search on RPC of 'Corinth SIC' reveals thirty or so types with errors in spelling from this location. Could that explain this mistake or is there a more sinister explanation. It seems odd that such a coin would be forged as I found it misattributed to another description at auction.
