Large (French?) Celtic bronze
« on: August 26, 2013, 02:11:54 pm »
Hi,

Can anyone  help with this large bronze Celtic coin. I say large because measuring from top to bottom the reverse it is 25mm (much larger than any British Celtic bronze). I'm assuming French. Obverse head of Apollo (?), reverse stylized horse left.

Any suggestions welcome.

Regards,

Mauseus

Hi,

Thanks for that but I don't think that's it. I am warming to the idea of Balkan Celts, head of Zeus/horse left though.

Hi,

I hadn't appreciated the huge variation in style of this broad grouping.

....and what's more surprising I think that I got the obverse photo the correct orientation too!
