May I impose upon anyone with this reference to either describe the
coin therein, or perhaps offer a scan of any plate to which it refers.
Unfortunately the description of the coin in
Price (#435A, no plate) is a
little ambiguous, and not quite specific enough for me to confirm that I
may have a similar coin.
Mine is a "
Philip II type" silver fraction (
Price: "1/12th
stater");
Obv:
Apollo Rev: Horseman; AΛ-E above, ΛΥ below (in
exergue?).
It would be nice to establish whether these could be/are the same dies.
What, if any,
reverse inscription or lettering is visible on the
Winterthur specimen? What is presented, and in what position?
Weight?
