« on: April 13, 2024, 03:29:14 pm »
Hi. I got this from a lot including many Seleucid  coins, but I could not find any match and I can't make the inscription.
Could you help me?

Your coin is indeed from Arados, I have a couple of these in my collection. Unfortunately the era date on your coin is of flan so difficult to date exactly.

Ref: Duyrat série 9.
https://phoeniciancoins.wordpress.com/arados-hellenistic-bronze-by-series-era-date/

Obverse: Jugate, Braided, bearded head of Zeus and Astarte wearing stephane facing right, dotted border.

Reverse: Prow of galley left with (Ἀθηνᾶ Πρόμαχος) Athena figurehead, holding wreath in right, trident in left, Phoenician letters nun (N) & ayin (‘) above, Aradian era date below.

Hi @Arados,
I got another one like this, but also not in the greatest shape.
Is the date readable on this one, or is too blurred?
Thanks

Hi carpatic,

Not an easy ask ;D, the Aradian era date is barely visible but i can confidently place your coin to between 137-134 B.C or Aradian years 123-125. Your coins iconographic details also suggest the dates i have mentioned.

Hope this helps.
