Original value of the Persian coins?!
« on: December 01, 2012, 05:32:39 pm »
Can any one introduce me a source(s) in which I can find the original value of the regular coins issued during famous pre-Islamic Persian dynasties i.e. Achaemenid, Parthian and Sassanid empires, in terms of conventional goods or livestock, ...?!
for instance, as Alram puts in "The Achaemenid currency", the pay of a simple soldier, and of a mercenary, was usually calculated at one daric a month.
I hardly could find similar notes for other types, such as Achaemenid siglos or Parthian tetra/normal drachms,... .

Best regards,
Arya
