« on: March 10, 2010, 05:20:41 pm »
It was found two weeks ago in the Netherlands with a metal detctor.

Obv: Legend in 4 rows within a square. At the sides of the squere also text.
Rev: Legend in 4 rows within a square. At the sides of the squere also text.
The reverse was fitted with a needle. It was converted into a fibula.

What is the date, ruler and partically what does the legend says!

Hi Tim

I think it is a dinar of the Almohad ruler Muhammad al-Nasir 595-610 H / 1199-1213 AD, http://andalustonegawa.50g.com/alomhads/Mwd26.jpg, about a third of the way down this page: http://andalustonegawa.50g.com/alomhads/Mwd26.jpg

Unfortunately I don't know enough to tell you what the inscriptions might mean.

Best wishes

Alan
