Another Seleukos question. Apologies for crossposting.
Anybody have for sale, or ever see for sale, the Seleukos I bronze depicting an elephant-headed
portrait of
Alexander the Great facing right on the
obverse and a standing
Nike facing left on the
reverse, minted in Susa and Ekbatana c. 300-298 BC?
It's not in
Sear, but attributions include, for Susa,
Price 3875-3879 and
ESM 291, 294-297 and for Ekbatana,
Price 3916,
ESM 459, and
SNG Cop. 1065. This coin
type is also discussed in Kirsten Dahmen's 2007 book
Alexander the Great on Greek and
Roman Coins and in Brian Kritt's 1997 book The Early
Seleucid Mint of Susa, among other places.
Only I couldn't find a single specimen in either
CoinArchives.com or
Wildwinds.com. Are they that
rare, or am I missing something? Thanks.
