Coin Thief Caught On Camera!!!
« on: January 03, 2020, 02:25:39 pm »
For the past month I have been looking everywhere for a tiny nummus of Justin I in a coin flip that I lost.  It has been driving me crazy.  On a whim, I placed an empty slip in the road in front of my house, and within about 20 minutes two mynah birds flew down and tried to snatch it!  I know I had the coin outside on my porch so, while this does not prove that they stole it, it certainly proves it is possible.

I remember a poem from school about a jackdaw thieving a cardinal's ring, but I didn't associate mynahs with the habit. Not that I know anything about them; where is it you're from?

Mynah means 'messenger of God' in Sanskriti. So maybe someone is trying to talk to you..............

Reminds me of my chocolate lab eating my Julius Caesar a while ago.  At least I got my coin back without too much effort.  Good luck there with the birds.

Not so much "ouch" on my end;  just had to watch where she did number 2 for a bit.

Hi BW4,

Your chocolate lab made a "chocolate" Julius Caesar. ;D

Hi folks,

As soon as I read the title of this topic, I suspected that the thief was some type of animal.

Believe it or not, the exact same thing happened to another Forum member in Italy. He is now a former Forum member. I remember reading his post about it. The bird stole his coin from a window sill, where he had put it for toning. Since he is a former Forum member, I don't know if it would be appropriate for me to mention his username. But I will give you a hint: He recently co-authored a reference book with another Forum member ("Mr. Achelous" :)).

I wonder if the chocolate lab treatment cures bronze disease and repatinates at the same time!

Think I've screwed that up pretty well; never mind.
