Macedonian shield coin unknow mark?
« on: May 23, 2017, 12:48:30 am »
Hello my Numis friends!
My name is Mako an amateur coin collected.
I've come across this beautiful Macedonian shield coin but I can't seem to find the center shield mark in any other coins.

As well as on the Reverse there is another mintmark but I can't seem to find this on other coins either.

If anyone can I lighten me on this topic.

Kind regards,
Mako

Macedonian shield emblazoned with monogram of king Antigonos II Gonatas.

Your coin is listed as #1048 in HGC3.1, struck c. 274/3 - 239 BC.

Cheers Pekka K!
I really appreciate that you took the time to respond to my message.
Which books would you recommend for Ancient Greek and Roman coins?
I understand that the Roman Empire stretched on for many years. As my collection is very variable as well.

Kind regards,
Makoto
