Constantine I OTD
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:51:40 pm »
This is the least clear example and most common version I have seen lately but it was incorrectly identified on eBay so only drew one  semi-serious sniper.  I was hoping for less granularity but you can't win them all.
RIC 225 page 319 Rome mint  (R EPW C P script mint mark)  This has no space between the omega and C which makes it harder to read.

Unfortunately this photo does the coin justice.  I'll reshoot it at least several times before I get a 'pretty' picture.

But Roma mon amour, you got it, even if granular.  Pat

Very scarce indeed, nice find. Odd nose on the Great, you would think the Rome mint would have done a mor flatterring profile.  :)

Does anyone admit to buying the beautiful one that sold at auction today?

Rome mint, buyer "taxo" - not too hard to figure out for regular flea-bayers!

It was actually an unlisted bust type (D6 variation - non-laureate) rather than the standard D2 implied by the attribution.

Nice coin, but it's been through a lot - there's a "before" pic and description on Victor's (now closed) board.
