severly broken but attributable gloria romanorum siscia
« on: March 09, 2008, 09:00:54 pm »
Firstly,  I know it's a longshot,  but  I'm  so close with this one. I pulled it out of a uncleaned lot  and it showed details,  so I just carried on with the cleaning   as if it were a full coin

well here is the coin  , or what's left of it

this  is what I have on it

Valentinian I
AE  10-17 mm  1.3 grams  well half the weight at least
OBV  ::  ?????   .  Pearled diadem, draped and cuirassed bust right
REV  ::  GLORIA ROMANORVM ..Emperor dragging captive right with right hand,  holding scepter in left
EX  ::  ?? SISC  ( Siscia)
RIC

I suspect Valentinian I  on this one  because it looks like him,  and also  he is the most common.  also  the exergue  is showing  _  SISC.   but the first letter is off flan,  if I can call it a flan

LOL  don't be shy on this one,  any opinion or comments are welcomed

cheers
