Gordian III or Philip I . Fouree barbarous imitation .
« on: November 19, 2015, 08:23:27 am »
Hi.

A relic from the long-standing uncleaned, unattributed pile. This one is looking bad, but may be attributable, at least partially.  I assume that most fouree coins are either modern or ancient counterfeits, is this accurate?

I think this coin is an issue of Gordian III.

AE/AR-plated. [Gordian III?] * GO[at 3 O'clock] ******, Radiate bust right / Garbled legend, Figure seated left on throne?

Thanks

18.19 mm, 2 grams

Graz!

Rather a seated figure holding globe and sceptre.
