fel temp reparatio
« on: February 21, 2008, 10:49:11 pm »
Hi all

There is a letter on both sides of the mint city abreviation (SIS) of this coin.

I think one is for the officina (letter T for 3rd).

What is the other letter for?

it looks like Y          ???

regards

Γ for 3 on the left, on the right is one of a set of symbols used at Siscia, one for each officina.  I have a scan of them somewhere I will try and find...

RIC VIII (Siscia) 241, AD 348-350

Looks like RIC VIII 241.  The mint mark is   :Greek_Gamma: SIS :SisciaVIII_3:  (gamma SIS symbol 3)

Yep, although you made me realise the symbols were all set up here as glyphs  :).
The symbols for each officina are:
A: :SisciaVIII_1: B: :SisciaVIII_2: Γ: :SisciaVIII_3: Δ: :SisciaVIII_4: Ε: :SisciaVIII_5:
