Legio x Gemina tiles?
« on: May 20, 2024, 02:07:42 pm »
These are 2 of the many pieces my friend found in the netherlands. Together with some other roman artifacts.

Are these stamped legionary tiles or something different? The colour of the 2nd one (black) stumps me as I havn't seen them before in that colour.

Any insights?  ???

This being the unusual colour and not quite sure what this would have been used for.

Yep, both Legionairy-stamped tiles.

They come in different colours. - terra-cotta, black, cream.

Thanks! Do you know if it was common to put lil stones into the terracotta? Can see all sorts of small rocks on the sides.
