Cast or not?
« on: December 25, 2018, 09:14:01 pm »
Hello. all.

I would like to get your view about this denarius whether it is cast or not.

First, the dealer is reliable and has a long history in ancient coins dealing.

But I think weight is a little low and surface is soft like as it is casted and there is suspicious pit on the right side of obverse above all.

there is no seam on the edge.

the weight is 3.35 g and diameter is 18mm and axis is 6h

Any opinion can help me. Thanks.

To me, it just looks worn and lightly corroded but genuine.  See what others say.

From the photo it appears genuine to me also.

For a coin that has suffered some wear and corrosion, the weight seems OK.  Still an attractive specimen of a scarce coin.
