Volatarrae (now Volterra), one of the most important of the Estruscan cities. A small gold coin: Obv: Youg head right or left, X before. Rev: Plain surafce.

Its bronze coins of the aes grave class are numerous, and the attribution is certain from their all bearing the legend Velathri in Estruscan characters, The coins are of three series:

1. Head of Janus, without type on reverse: dupondius, As, semis, triens, quadrans, sextans, uncia.
2. With club on reverse: dupondius, As, semis, triens, quadrans, sextans, uncia
3. Dolphin on reverse: As and semis
